In Norse mythology, Freya is the most beloved of the Vanir gods — goddess of love, fertility, war, and magic, who rides a chariot drawn by cats and weeps tears of gold for those she has lost. She is the keeper of Séssrumnir, the hall where half of all warriors slain in battle come to rest, and she is the first to teach the Aesir the magic of seidr. She wears the Brisingamen necklace, the most coveted treasure in the nine worlds, and her presence carries both fierce power and deep tenderness. This hand-carved Freya statue is a centrepiece of our Norse Statues collection , where the gods of the Viking age take form in ecological wood, crafted in Ukraine and finished with lacquer.

Each piece is individually crafted — no two are identical. The carved runic symbols above her head — Fehu for prosperity, Berkana for fertility, Algiz for protection — are rendered with fine detail, and the Brisingamen necklace and twin cats at her feet are faithfully depicted.

Freya in Norse Mythology

  • Goddess of Love & War: Freya rules over love, beauty, fertility, and battle — she chooses half of all warriors fallen in combat to join her in Séssrumnir, her great hall in Fólkvangr
  • Mistress of Seidr: She is the foremost practitioner of seidr magic in the Norse world, and it was she who taught this powerful form of prophecy and spellcraft to Odin himself
  • The Brisingamen: Her legendary necklace, forged by the dwarves of Svartalfheim, is a symbol of her beauty, desire, and the lengths to which even gods will go for what they love
  • Companion of Cats & Falcon: She travels in a chariot pulled by two great cats and wears a cloak of falcon feathers that grants the power of flight — symbols of her connection to the wild and the divine
  • Goddess of Gold Tears: When she weeps for her lost husband Óðr, her tears fall as gold — making her a symbol of love’s depth, longing, and the beauty found even in grief

Ideal For

  • Norse pagan and Asatru altar centrepieces
  • Collectors of Viking mythology and goddess art
  • Gifts for those drawn to Norse spirituality, love magic, and seidr practice
