The Golem in Jewish Mythology
- Origin: Rooted in Jewish mysticism and Kabbalistic tradition, the Golem is an artificial being created from clay or mud and brought to life through sacred Hebrew inscription
- The Prague Golem: The most famous Golem was said to be created by Rabbi Judah Loew ben Bezalel (the Maharal) in 16th-century Prague to protect the Jewish community from antisemitic attacks
- Activation: The Golem was animated by writing the Hebrew word emet (truth) on its forehead — and deactivated by erasing the first letter to spell met (death)
