Hoenir is a very mysterious and infrequently mentioned god, but the language will not turn to call him "insignificant".

Hoenir survives Ragnarоk.

His name - Hönir, Hœnir, Hænir - is somewhat problematic in terms of etymology. Previously, there was an opinion about "like a swan", but now Hoenir is interpreted as "rooster".

Firstly, there are more roosters in the myths than other birds: Vidofnir on the Mimamaid tree, Gullinkambi in Valhalla, Fyalar in the Galgvid forest, and another nameless one in Hel. The last three announce Ragnarok.
