Kukulkan — the Feathered Serpent — soars through the heart of Maya civilisation as one of its most supreme and awe-inspiring deities. God of wind, rain, storms, and the very act of creation, Kukulkan was worshipped across the Yucatan Peninsula and gave his name to the great pyramid of Chichén Itzá, where twice a year the shadow of a serpent descends its steps at the equinox. This hand-carved ash wood statue captures his serpentine majesty, part of our Mexican Heritage & Aztec Mythology collection , finished with a lacquer that honours every carved detail.

Each piece is individually crafted — no two are identical. Available in Colored and Brown, the carving renders Kukulkan’s feathered serpent form with striking presence — a powerful centrepiece for any altar or collection dedicated to Mesoamerican sacred art.

Kukulkan in Maya Mythology

  • Identity: The Feathered Serpent god of the Maya — a supreme deity of wind, rain, storms, and creation, worshipped across the Yucatan Peninsula and throughout Mesoamerica
  • The great pyramid: El Castillo at Chichén Itzá was built in his honour — at the spring and autumn equinoxes, the play of light and shadow creates the illusion of a serpent descending the pyramid’s steps, a phenomenon that draws thousands of visitors each year
  • Parallel deities: Closely related to Quetzalcoatl of the Aztec tradition — both represent the union of the earthly serpent and the celestial bird, the merging of earth and sky
  • Domain: Governs wind, rain, and the life-giving forces of nature — as well as knowledge, learning, and the arts of civilisation
  • Symbolism: The feathered serpent represents the union of opposites — earth and sky, matter and spirit, the primal and the divine — and the transformative power of knowledge and creation

Ideal For

  • Collectors of Maya and Mesoamerican mythology and pre-Columbian art
  • Spiritual practitioners drawn to serpent deity energy and Mesoamerican cosmology
  • Striking home decor for lovers of ancient civilisations, world mythology, and sacred art
