Ymir, in Norse mythology the first anthropomorphic creature, a giant, from whose body the world was created, a wooden statue, Norse gods statues woodcarving from ecological material. At the beginning of time, there was no sand, no sea, no earth, no grass in the world, there was no sky, sun, and stars. Only the giant abyss gaped.

On one edge of the abyss - the Land of Fire and Light, on the other - the Land of Cold and Darkness. And in the Land of Cold and Darkness, a huge spring gushed in: its water boils, like in a cauldron; cold, rapid, roaring, and groaning rivers with poisonous water originate there.

The ice moved closer and closer to the other edge of the abyss, to the Land of Fire and Light. Finally, frost and warm air met; the frost began to melt and flow down like drops from an icicle on a sunny day. The spray came to life and took the form of an etun (giant). It was Ymir, the oldest creature in the world. Poisonous blood flowed in his veins, evil and terrible rivers, his ancestors from the Land of Cold and Darkness, spoke in it. Ymir was exhausted from the warmth, he lay down to rest.

Falling asleep, he was sweating, and under his left hand, where it was hot and humid, a man and a woman grew up, and a son, a six-headed giant, was born from his feet. A man and a woman got married, and offspring came from them. They all began to be called ice giants because Ymir arose from frost and ice. They were, like their ancestor, evil and insidious.
