Misunderstood by many, revered by those who know the deeper truth — Chernobog, the Black God, is one of the most complex and compelling figures in Slavic mythology. Twin brother of Belobog, the God of Light, Chernobog was sent by Rod, the Creator God, into the realm of Nava to maintain the cosmic balance — tasked with destroying what no longer belongs in the world of the living. Far from a simple embodiment of evil, he is a necessary force: a guardian of order, a keeper of the boundary between worlds, and in many myths, a protector of people alongside the Gods of Right. The Chernobog Wooden Statue honours this ambiguous, powerful deity in hand-carved ash wood, shaped in our family workshop.

Figurine Characteristics

  • Material — Ecological Ash Wood: Sustainably sourced ash provides a tight, even grain that holds fine carving detail beautifully, giving your figurine a warm, natural presence that synthetic materials simply cannot replicate.
  • Finish — Hand-Applied Varnish: A protective varnish finish seals the wood against dust and moisture, keeping your piece gallery-worthy for years with minimal care — just a quick wipe with a dry cloth.
  • Dimensions — 8.0" H × 4.2" W × 1.7" D (20.8 × 10.8 × 4.5 cm): A commanding, dark presence — ideal for a shelf, pagan altar, or display space.
  • One-of-a-Kind Design: Each piece is unique due to natural wood grain and tone — no two are exactly alike.

Symbolism of Chernobog

  • Darkness & Destruction — not evil, but the necessary force that clears what no longer serves the living world
  • Cosmic Balance — his eternal duality with Belobog reflects the Slavic understanding of light and shadow as inseparable
  • Guardian of Nava — ruler of the underworld realm, keeper of the boundary between life and death
  • Husband of Morena — his bond with the Goddess of Winter and Death deepens his role as a force of transformation

This statue pairs beautifully with other pieces in our Slavic statues collection — perfect for building a curated mythological display.
