It navigates in total darkness, crosses the threshold between day and night, and in Norse and Celtic tradition it was understood as a messenger between realms — a creature that could pass freely between the world of the living and the world of the dead. Where the raven carried Odin’s thoughts across the nine realms in daylight, the bat carried wisdom through the hours of darkness.
