Inari Okami is one of the most widely venerated deities in Shintoism — the god of rice, agriculture, foxes, and worldly success. More than one third of all Shinto shrines in Japan are dedicated to Inari. The deity’s messengers are the Kitsune — magical foxes whose nine tails mark the highest degree of wisdom and divine power. This Inari Okami Statue depicts the deity with a nine-tailed Kitsune fox wrapping its tails protectively around the figure’s legs — a symbol of divine protection, loyalty, and the active cultivation of prosperity. Hand-carved in ash wood in our family workshop.

Statue Characteristics

  • Material — Ecological Ash Wood: Sustainably sourced ash holds fine figurative carving beautifully.
  • Finish — Hand-Applied Varnish: Seals the wood and enhances its natural warmth.
  • Dimensions — 8.2" H × 6.8" W × 1.5" D (21 × 17.5 × 4 cm): Perfect for a shelf, desk, or altar display.
  • One-of-a-Kind Design: Each piece is unique due to natural wood grain — no two are exactly alike.

Symbolism of Inari Okami

  • God of Rice & Abundance — Inari presides over rice, the foundation of Japanese civilisation; to honour Inari is to honour the source of life and prosperity
  • The Nine-Tailed Kitsune — nine tails represent the highest level of wisdom, magical power, and divine favour in Japanese mythology
  • Protection & Loyalty — the Kitsune wrapping its tails around Inari’s legs symbolises divine protection and the active cultivation of success
  • Industry & Craft — Inari is also the patron of swordsmiths and merchants; the deity blesses all who work with skill and dedication

Bring the blessing of Inari Okami and the clever spirit of the fox into your home. This hand-carved statue represents abundance and work well done, serving as a standout addition to our Japanese collection.
