This hand-carved Ishtar statue brings the Mesopotamian Queen of Heaven to life in ecological ash wood — a commanding altar piece depicting Inanna in her dual role as goddess of love and goddess of war. She stands beneath her eight-pointed star, flanked by twin torches, with her sacred lion at her side and a spear in her hand. Carved with a varnish finish, the "Ishtar" inscription is carved into the base.
Each statue is individually hand-carved — no two are identical.

Ishtar / Inanna in Mesopotamian Mythology
Queen of Heaven: Ishtar (Inanna in Sumerian) is one of the oldest and most powerful deities of the ancient world — goddess of love, beauty, fertility, and war.
The Lion: Her sacred animal, symbolising divine bravery, sovereignty, and untamed power.
The Spear: Represents her role as protector and leader in battle — she is both nurturer and destroyer.
The Eight-Pointed Star: Her celestial symbol, linked to the planet Venus as both the Morning and Evening Star.
Descent to the Underworld: One of the oldest mythological narratives — Ishtar’s journey through the seven gates of the underworld and her return symbolises death, rebirth, and transformation.
