The name "Shemyaza" has roots in Jewish, Christian, and Islamic lore. In Jewish Midrashic legend, Shemyaza and Azazel were angels who descended to Earth to glorify the name of God. According to the Book of Enoch, Shemyaza was one of 200 angels who were expelled from heaven for their infatuation with women and was imprisoned by Archangel Michael under the mountains. In some legends, Shemyaza and Azazel communicated heavenly secrets to King Solomon. Despite being depicted as a rebel leader and deceiver in some texts, Shemyaza is also associated with wisdom and knowledge and is considered a powerful figure in his own right.
