Chalchiuhtlicue Statue | Hand-Carved Ash Wood Aztec Goddess of Water | ArtCarving Shop

The Chalchiuhtlicue statue is hand-carved from solid ash wood and finished with varnish for lasting protection. It measures 8.0 in / 20.5 cm tall, 4.3 in / 11.0 cm wide, and 1.9 in / 5.0 cm deep. It is available in two finishes: natural brown varnished ash wood and a painted Multicolor version with jade green and gold tones. Each piece is individually carved in Ukraine, so no two statues are identical.

Chalchiuhtlicue — "She of the Jade Skirt" — is the Aztec goddess of lakes, rivers, springs, and all freshwater. She was the patroness of childbirth and the protector of newborns, believed to surround each new life with a river of sacred water at the moment of birth. In the Aztec creation myth she presided over the Fourth Sun — the age before our own — which ended in a great flood. She is the consort of Tlaloc, the rain god, and together they governed the waters that made agriculture and civilisation possible. Her jade-green garments symbolise the nourishing, life-giving properties of water — a goddess of both creation and destruction.

Chalchiuhtlicue is invoked for purification, fertility, protection of children, and connection to the sacred feminine. Place her statue near a bowl of water, a blue or green candle, and offerings of flowers or jade-coloured stones. She is especially appropriate on altars dedicated to water, healing, or new beginnings. In contemporary pagan and witchcraft practice she is called upon for emotional cleansing, creative flow, and protection during pregnancy or childbirth. Her energy is associated with the west direction and the element of water.
