Belenus is a Celtic sun god, whose cult attracted the attention of the Romans. Julius Caesar in his writings compared Belenus with the Greek god of light and divination, the patron of the arts, Apollo. Among the Gauls, Belenus was identified with Apollo and had the function of a healer. People asked him for light and warmth, as well as healing from various diseases. He is also an expert in all sciences, which means he is a full-fledged mentor of gods and people.

The name of the god is translated from Celtic as "Light", "Shiny". The greatest festival of spring, May Beltine, was dedicated to him. On this day, people lit the lights of Bel, which symbolized the warm rays of the sun. It was Belenus who was ready to come to the rescue during the transition period from winter cold to summer warmth. He is responsible for releasing power from the tops of the mountains. And with the help of his assistants the Sidhas, he could show how much the events of the coming summer could be darkened if no sacrifices were made in his honor.

Also, at the time of the onset of the true period of heat, a large number of bonfires are lit in his honor. The flame and heat of diamond lights are designed to bring it out of hibernation and allow it to give the warmth and power of the sun for the coming sowing of people. So with the arrival of Belenus, everyone considered it their duty to turn for the flow of vitality. Healers and sorcerers did this, turning their gaze towards the northern slopes of the mountains, where it was considered the presence of special help and the habitat of this deity. After all, Belenus could help prepare for future battles by endowing him with good health and giving him the strength to see all the available opportunities for developing his potential.

Belenus is a mysterious and multifaceted character. This god is very beautiful and bright. But there is another side to Belenus - he is the one with whom the deceased person played a difficult game of guidbuil - a game similar to chess. And the further fate of the human soul depended on the result of this game.

So, Belenus can be considered the god of Death. God was considered the patron saint of sacred springs, from which hot water gushes out. He was approached by artisans who processed metals.
