The (Eostara, Eostre) is the deity of spring and agriculture, revered by the ancient Germans. Her name comes from the ancient word "eastre" - "spring". In Anglo-Saxon, her name sounds like Estre or Eastre, which today we meet in English in the word “Easter”. In addition to fertility and the change of seasons, she also symbolizes rebirth, the beginning of something new. This goddess was worshiped on the day of the vernal equinox, lighting fires at sunset, which was supposed to be the protection of the next year's harvest.

She was associated among the ancient Germans with a young girl who had not yet become a mother but was already mature enough to become pregnant and give birth to healthy children. She wears wreaths of spring flowers and young twigs. Before the gaze of the ghosts, they often appeared dancing, cheerful and bewitchingly smiling, although she could suddenly frown or be very sad (in this case, the blue spring sky was covered with gray clouds).

This beautiful young woman is distinguished by a duality in the manifestations of her strength. She preserves the earth and helps the renewal and resurrection of life, owning the feminine, namely, the lunar natural forces. She helps all living things to develop, to grow.

But her other image is that of a warrior, hostile to everything that is not real and inanimate.

She is not just an abstract spirit, but the embodiment of the earth itself, returning to life after a long winter sleep.
