This hand-carved Hréþe statue brings one of the most ancient and rarely depicted Anglo-Saxon goddesses into your altar or sacred space. Sculpted from solid ash wood and finished with varnish, every detail of her fierce, windswept form is shaped by hand in our workshop in Ukraine. A striking piece for Norse and Anglo-Saxon pagans, Ostara practitioners, and collectors of Scandinavian mythology art.
Hréþe (Old English: Hréþe — "the fierce one" or "the victorious") is the goddess of late winter and early spring in Anglo-Saxon tradition. She rules the wild storms, hailstorms, and biting winds of the season that bears her name — Hrēþmōnaþ (March). Where Ēostre brings the warmth of spring, Hréþe clears the way with ferocity and force, sweeping out the cold and making space for new growth. She is a goddess of triumph over darkness, invoked at the turning of winter into spring.
A powerful addition to any Norse and Scandinavian statue collection — especially meaningful at Ostara and the spring equinox.
