Sleipnir in Norse Mythology

• Origin: Sleipnir was born of Loki, who transformed into a mare to distract the giant's stallion Svaðilfari — the resulting foal was gifted to Odin as the most extraordinary horse ever born.
• Eight Legs: His eight legs make him faster than any creature in existence, able to traverse land, sea, air, and the underworld with equal ease — a symbol of his mastery over all realms.
• Odin's Steed: Sleipnir carries Odin across the Nine Realms, including into Hel itself — he is the only horse capable of making the journey between the world of the living and the dead.
• The Prose Edda: Described in Snorri Sturluson's Prose Edda as "the best of all horses," Sleipnir is grey in colour and bears runic inscriptions on his teeth.
